Climate change is transforming our economies and livelihoods, and the Global South is feeling its impacts most acutely. Yet, the financing needed for adaptation and resilience remains far out of reach.
To help bridge this gap, GRP launched Mobilising Business Schools for Resilience, and has been implementing with UNDP an innovative initiative aimed at turning the challenge of underfunded adaptation into an opportunity. Working with Yale School of Management, Saïd Business School at Oxford, Institute for Management Development (IMD) Business School, IE University Spain and the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business, the initiative connects local innovators and entrepreneurs with investors, students, and researchers to co-create finance solutions that work in practice.
At its core are the principles of locally led adaptation, ensuring local knowledge, priorities, and leadership guide how adaptation is designed, governed, and financed. Activities include student fellowships, teaching cases based on live projects, investor forums, and co-creation workshops that develop financing models grounded in real-world experience. Through these collaborations, students and entrepreneurs work together to refine business models and unlock capital for scalable, high-impact solutions.
A key enabler of this initiative is the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM), a consortium of more than 30 leading business schools that expands the reach of this global learning ecosystem and strengthens collaboration between the Global North and South.
The initiative is now expanding its global network, amplifying locally led innovation, and unlocking capital for high-impact, community-driven adaptation projects.
